Matter of Principal - March

Throughout the school year, FFCA High School staff and students strive to improve.  Staff participate in professional development, goal setting, instructional coaching and regularly check with their colleagues and students to help know how they are doing.  Our students assist in improving the quality of our teachers with annual participation in our teacher feedback process.

Recently, students filled out three separate surveys: one for a core teacher (math, language arts, social studies and science), one for a non-core teacher (physical education, leadership or an elective) and a third for a teacher of their choice.  Survey responses are collected, collated and given to teachers to assist with the improvement of their practice.

Within the school days, students practice how to provide feedback to others, and self-reflect for their own growth all the while completing Leadership with Character courses that infuse feedback opportunities. Altogether, the FFCA community is a vibrant community of reflective learners!

“In a growth mindset, challenges are exciting rather than threatening. So rather than thinking, oh, I’m going to reveal my weaknesses, you say, wow, here’s a chance to grow.”  Carol Dweck
