At FFCA High School we work hard to connect with each and every student.  “Research tells us that just one trusted adult can have a profound effect on a child’s life, influencing that young person toward positive growth, greater engagement in school and community activities, and better overall health.” (Raney, 2019) At our school it,

  • LOOKS LIKE – staff greeting students at the door
  • SOUNDS LIKE – staff chit chatting to get to know ALL students
  • FEELS LIKE – partnership! Ex: teachers having important conversations about students Ex: a student asking, “Can I check in with a teacher?”

It means having a school timetable that includes planned time for cross grade level advisory groups; a scheduled time that happens about every three weeks when cross grade level groups meet with staff and discuss important school information such as high school course programming or character virtues, plan service activities, share a potluck meal together or celebrate the season with a door decorating activity.

It includes Snack ‘n Chat!  A monthly lunch hour opportunity open to an student that includes a snack and a chat with school administration and any topic is a great topic for the conversation.

Working hard to connect with all students is a great responsibility and privilege!  We desire to get to know our students, show them how much they matter and support them in their growth, even if it is modest.

It is a privilege and an honor to work with your children. We wish you and you’re a healthy, prosperous new year!
